What a beautiful morning: I’m having latte macchiato and the weather is great (+9 degree)! Listening to the album “Light the Horizon” of Bedouin Soundclash and having the right mood for blogging.
Yesterday I decided to visit Elvaston Castle. The weather was quite windy and it was late already – 5:20 p.m. One of the advantages for the late rides are the most beautiful sunsets. Did I mention I love waters, forests, mountains, castles and sunsets?

I started my trip from Riverside Gardens, again, and followed the cycle path downstream along the River Derwent towards Elvaston Castle. Basically it was the same route as for my first cycle day, just an extended version. And guess what, it is one of the Cycle Derby offered easy family rides named Elvaston Castle. I’m a little bit a topographical pumpkin-head and turned right too early – as a result I passed through Alvaston and, what a coincidence, I stopped at the Saint Michael and All Angels’ Church right at 6:00 p.m. “Ding-dong,” said the church’s bell six times.

Eventually I reached Elvaston Castle and took a ride around the castle’s territory. It has a really beautiful garden. Need to return here during the daylight. I took the riverside path back to Derby. It was really dark and I realized how important it is to have the head and back lights with reflectors. Need to go shopping! 🙂

Elvaston Castle Country Park is picturesque site featuring over 200 acres of woodlands, parkland and formal Grade II listed gardens incorporating a lake, picnic areas, children’s play areas and caravan & camping sites.
Yesterday I felt as member of a network of cyclists and runners. It is always nice to meet them on the road. In total I cycled for two hours and managed a distance of 21 km. Now I need to plan my next route. See you later!
